DEKO mobile partitions optimise the learning environment at the new H.C. Ørsted Gymnasiet
A new technical high school, H.C. Ørsted Gymnasiet, has just been completed close to Lyngby and the Helsingør motorway. The building, a tribute to science and to physicist and philosopher H.C. Ørsted, challenges the status quo in relation to traditional school buildings and encourages innovation and inquiry in both students and lecturers alike. DEKO has delivered and installed super-functional mobile partitions to the project, their flexibility optimising tuition and exploiting the spaces’ full potential.
Innovative, futuristic, ground-breaking. These are just a few of the adjectives used to describe the new H.C. Ørsted Gymnasiet at Lyngby. Designed by Sweco Architects, this newly completed building plays with form and room division, the coils that make the school’s facade being clearly inspired by H.C. Ørsted’s discoveries within the field of electromagnetism.
The school’s interiors too are inspired by science and innovative thinking. This includes consideration of non-traditional teaching methods and a distinct focus on the division of space in order for the building to become an active and integrated contributor to the tuition.
MAXIMISE LIGHT AND MINIMISE NOISE WITH THE PERFECT PARTITION FOR DYNAMIC SPACES
It is precisely in the work with the division of space that the mobile partitions play an important role: their inherent flexibility means they are able to optimise the physical framework for tuition and to exploit the open areas’ full potential. This is perfect both when working in groups or across groups and also when calm and concentration is required.
DEKO has delivered and installed 8 DEKO FV2 Glass folding partitions for a series of classrooms on the school’s 2 lower floors, making it possible to integrate tuition with the building’s large open areas. DEKO FV2 Glass, with its flexibility, maximised glass surface and, not least, Rw 47 dB sound reduction, is a certain winner when there is no wish to compromise on design, function, sound reduction or natural daylight. What’s more, the folding glass partitions are easy to integrate in DEKO’s further range of fixed glass-wall systems.
UTILISE A SPACE’S FULL POTENTIAL WITH INTELLIGENT ROOM DIVIDERS
In institutional buildings, the flexibility and function of large spaces and shared areas play a crucial role in daily operations; here the DEKO MV2 Glass mobile wall comes into its own as a functional room divider. DEKO MV2 Glass provides the flexibility and freedom to divide a room as needed – without having to compromise on sound, light or design.
In addition to more traditional DEKO MV mobile partitions, DEKO has also installed a semi-automatic DEKO MV2 Glass mobile partition for the large shared space on the ground floor. The mobile glass partition is tailor-made for the space, measuring almost 4 metres in height and extending to 13.5 metres wide. This modern glass partition provides impressive sound reduction of Rw 49 dB, but further sound reduction up to Rw 53 dB can also be achieved. Folding the partition away means the school acquires an extra-large open area which may be used for larger assemblies and events.
Conversely, it is quick and easy to close off an extra space without compromising the light, open environment. This makes DEKO MV2 Glass an intelligent, practical solution when you want to optimise and utilise a space's full dimensions and full potential.
DEKO MV2 Glass mobile partitions are produced in Germany by the internationally renowned company, DORMA Hüppe. DEKO has enjoyed an excusive distribution agreement for DORMA Hüppe mobile walls in Denmark since 2018 and can offer both semi- and fully automatic glass mobile walls.
NOMINATED FOR SCHOOL BUILDING OF THE YEAR 2022
The futuristic appearance and focus on teaching and creativity has led to the nomination of the H.C. Ørsted Gymnasiet for the School Building of the Year Award 2022, where the common denominator for all the nominated projects is modern, creative, learning environments. DEKO has in fact delivered mobile partitions to 4 of the 5 nominated projects. Our congratulations to the winning project, Vrå Børne- og Kulturhus.
