Fire-rated glazed partitioning solutions for a sustainable town hall in the Netherlands
The local town hall in the Dutch city of Rheden has been transformed into a completely new, inviting space where sustainability and functionality are seamlessly integrated into the design. Through our partner, Verwol, minimalist fire-rated glazed partitions complete with integrated doors have been supplied, ensuring that the town hall meets modern fire safety standards.
In the heart of Rheden, the town hall Gemeentehuis Rheden has undergone an impressive renovation, focusing not only on modern design but also on sustainability and functionality.
The vision has been to create the town hall with a biophilic design, where natural elements are incorporated to create an inviting and healthy work environment.
At the same time, attention has been given to the building’s functionality in terms of fire safety and acoustic performance – and this is where DEKO’s glazed partition and door solutions come into play.
Fire safety and transparency for an open and secure environment
An important part of the renovation has been ensuring that the interior meets high standards for both design and fire safety. Therefore, DEKO, in collaboration with our Dutch partner, Verwol, supplied DEKO FG Fire Clear with a documented fire safety rating of EI60, combined with our fire-rated DEKO AG EI60 doors, covering 250m² across two floors.
The glazed partition solutions play a central role in creating an open and bright office environment, while also adhering to strict safety standards. The minimalist design of the partitions, with their large glazed panels, contributes to a visually cohesive space where employees can enjoy continuous access to natural daylight, while the environment remains open and transparent.
Light, wood, and nature
The project was executed with great attention to ensuring that the biophilic aesthetic and functionality go hand in hand. The goal was for the environment to appear light and to foster a warm and calm atmosphere. As such, the fire-rated glazed partitions were chosen with almost invisible joints, allowing them to fade into the background, serving the aesthetic purpose of distributing light throughout the building.
Meanwhile, the rest of the interior, featuring natural touches such as green plants and wood furnishings, contributes to a grounded and soothing environment that benefits the users of the building.
