Glazed partitions and doors with cobalt blue frames for the historic Nordstens House

For over 100 years, Nordstens House in Copenhagen served as the headquarters for the agricultural machinery manufacturer Nordsten. Today, the building has been restored and transformed into an open, modern office landscape, featuring fire and soundproof glazed partitions and doors that both complement and contrast with the well-preserved original architecture.

The historic building of Nordstens House in Copenhagen carries its own unique history as the former headquarters of one of Denmark's largest agricultural machinery factories. The goal of the building’s modernisation was to restore as much of the original architecture as possible, honouring and showcasing its rich history. As a result, the floor, bricks, columns, and beams have been preserved and are integrated into the new design.

Today, Nordstens House functions as office space, and here, DEKO has contributed with functional, minimalist glazed partition solutions that not only provide sound and fire protection but also allow natural daylight to filter through, bringing warmth and light into the older building. The colour of the profiles and frames has been carefully selected as a key decorative element in the interior design.

Glazed partitions as a Striking Design Feature

The future meets the past in Nordstens House, and this is particularly evident in the interior, where over 100-year-old architectural elements coexist with new, modern design solutions. The wooden floorboards, beams, and columns, along with the red brick walls, serve as a reminder of the building’s past and create a raw yet warm aesthetic in the interior.

However, the historical elements truly come into their own when paired with the modern doors and glazed partitions: the clear glass against the raw materials, and the dramatic cobalt blue colour of the frames against the calm, warm tones of the wood and bricks, create a dynamic contrast that makes the building’s original architecture stand out.

Sound and Fire Insulated: An Old Building with Functional Design

In addition to contributing to the decorative interplay of the interior, DEKO’s door and glazed partition solutions also play an important functional role in the modernisation of Nordstens House. To ensure the building meets current fire safety standards, DEKO has supplied DEKO FG Fire Profile glazed partition with a fire rating of up to EI 60 and fire-resistant DEKO AG aluminium-framed doors.

Moreover, creating an optimal working environment for concentration and focus is essential, so the offices have been fitted with DEKO FG Silent fully glazed partitions, offering sound reduction of up to 50 dB. Combined with our soundproof DEKO DG double glazed-doors, the building is equipped with excellent acoustic properties. All solutions have been delivered in the same design, with a cohesive aesthetic that ties together the entire office space.

At DEKO, we are pleased to contribute to the restoration of this historic building, which, with its new life, will hopefully add many more years to the rich history of Nordstens House.
