Slagelse Psychiatric Hospital
Transparent, contact and security
Human interaction and high levels of security were key words during initial discussions about the products we could deliver for the psychiatric hospital project.
You might not see the difference between a modern office building and the new Slagelse psychiatric hospital – there is daylight everywhere and open spaces enclosed by glass walls.
This project set serious demands on security for hospital employees. We had to test the security parameters of all the products we would be using on this project.
The security test in itself was simple. The walls required the highest level of security. They were exposed to various loads that one might experience at a psychiatric hospital. We needed to make sure the control room from which the staff monitored the patients was secure beyond any doubt.
DEKO FG fully glazed walls with safety glass were used along with standard DEKO FG fully glazed walls and DEKO FG Silent glass walls with acoustic reduction up to 49 dB and fire-rated DEKO FG Fire movable glazed walls that met EW 60 fire classification - all in the same limited design range.
We also installed FV folding and DEKO MV movable walls for this project. No other project has used such a large quantity of movable walls as this one. More than 25 movable walls were installed here, 24 massive DEKO movable walls and 1 DEKO MV movable wall made entirely of glass.
To ensure uniform design throughout the building, all the DEKO doors came with an upper panel in three possible colours. All the doors were mounted in our stable aluminium frames.
Daylight reached everyone in the building, patients and employees, regardless of where you were in the building, enhancing contact between patients and personnel.
